Checking Your Work and Handling Revisions
✓ CompletedGrace has answered your questions, and Ana has finished the Lumen Home folder. Before anyone calls it done, it needs checking.
In this lesson you'll check finished work against the request, and make Grace's changes without breaking what was already right.
Grace's answers came in on Saturday morning, your time:
Here's the Task Card, updated with Grace's answers:
| Part | Task Card |
|---|---|
| Task | A folder with photos of the 12 best sellers, and a Doc listing each one's product name, photo file name and wholesale price |
| Finished result | One folder, Lumen Home – Best Sellers – Oct, with 12 photos. One Doc with the same name, listing the same 12 products |
| Sources | The Best Sellers tab. White-background photos, with lifestyle photos for Harbor Vase and Linen Throw (Grace's answer). Price List column E, Wholesale (Grace's answer) |

The Done Check
Before you say it's done, take out your Task Card and check the finished work against it, part by part:
- Task: is everything there? Count it.
- Finished result: the right type, name and place?
- Sources: the right file, column and version?
- Deadline: in time, in the client's time zone?
- Limits: nothing you were told not to do?
- Open questions: answered, and the answers applied?
Then look for the usual slips: names, numbers, dates, blanks and duplicates.
Check the actual file. It's easy to remember doing something and not notice that it came out wrong, like a folder named for the wrong month.
And leave alone what's fine. Something you didn't expect isn't wrong unless the request or the client's answers say so.
Buksan mo ulit ang file at tingnan mismo. Huwag umasa sa alaala na "nagawa ko na 'yan."
How to tell Grace it's done is in the completion guidance in Communication & Professionalism.
Find the Errors
The October stock count is finished, and Ana is about to share it with Mark. Grace's instructions were: warehouse only, and damaged items go in the Notes column, not in the count.
| A | B | C | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Item | Good | Damaged |
| 2 | Sand Mug | 44 | 0 |
| 3 | Tide Plate | 30 | 2 |
| 4 | Fern Vase | 12 | 0 |
| 5 | Moss Mug | 20 | 0 |
| 6 | Clay Mug | 16 | 0 |
| 7 | Sky Mug | 18 | 0 |
| A | B | C | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Item | Warehouse qty | Notes |
| 2 | Sand Mug | 44 | |
| 3 | Tide Plate | 32 | 2 chipped |
| 4 | Fern Vase | 12 | |
| 5 | Moss Mug | 20 | |
| 6 | Clay Mug | 16 | |
| 7 | Clay Mug | 16 | |
| 8 | Sky Mug | 18 |
Before you share it with Mark, which of these need fixing? Tick every one that needs fixing, and leave the rest.
When Grace Asks for Changes
A change request is a new instruction. Read it the way you read the first one, then ask:
- What exactly changes?
- What else does it touch? One change often reaches more than one place.
- Is it a change to this work, or a new task that needs its own Task Card?
- Which version are you changing? Use the one Grace is working from.
- Does it change a limit on your Task Card? If so, update the card.
After you make the change, re-check three things: what you changed, what it touched, and what was already right.
What Does This Change Touch?
On Monday, Grace writes:
Which parts of the Lumen work does this change? Tick every part it touches, and leave the rest.
Before You Change Anything
Three quick ones before Ana makes Grace's changes.
You also have Lumen Home – Best Sellers – Oct.docx in your laptop's Downloads, from Saturday. Grace edited the Doc in the folder on Sunday.
Where do you make Grace's changes?
Which of these from Grace is a new task, not a change to the Lumen work?
Your Task Card says: "Don't send it to the buyer; Grace will." On Monday, Grace writes:
What's your call?

How to reply to Grace's changes, and what to say if you find a mistake after you've sent something, is in the feedback guidance in Communication & Professionalism.
- Before you call it done, check the work against your Task Card, part by part.
- Count, compare names, numbers and dates, and look for blanks and duplicates. Leave alone what's fine.
- A change is a new instruction: find what it changes and what else it touches.
- Change the right version, then re-check what changed, what it touched, and what was already right.
